Dorah Mwima Talks Beauty, Makeup and Staying in Shape

By  |

Dorah Mwima is a mother, wife, interior decorator and philanthropist. She’s also a former beauty queen (Miss Uganda 2008). She recently launched her own YouTube channel where she takes her subscribers through her incredible journey of juggling work and philanthropy with motherhood. For a former beauty queen, there’s also lots of beauty and health tips therein. We thought it would be a perfect idea to have a little chat with her on her beauty routine.

My skincare routine is ..

ON A DAILY, I wash my face twice a day. Take off my makeup every night. Apply moisturizer after cleansing. I usually have warm, not hot showers. I drink lots of water and try my best to get at least 8 hours of sleep

WEEKLY, I do an at home peel. Exercise 3 times a week. Clean all my makeup brushes and tools.

My hair care routine is …

I oil my hair every after two days. Wash it weekly. I deep condition or treat it every three to four weeks. Retouch (Relax) my hair after 6 months.

 My signature scent is…

That would be La vie est belle (Life is beautiful) by Lacome. It was actually my husband who introduced me to this scent. He bought it for me way back when we were still just good friends, and I fell in love with it. I guess the same way I fell in love with him hihi!

The skincare products I can’t live without…

Neutrogena products. Their products are always available in the market so I don’t get to worry about them going out of stock, or going for weeks without my usual skin care products. They also have a wide range of products so one gets to use exactly what his/her skin type requires. I use their wash, cleanser, moisturizer and sometimes makeup removal wipes. They have actually helped me fight blackheads which, usually for me, come during my pregnancies.

The beauty tip I always share with my friends…

Never sleep with makeup on and have a separate towel to use for your face.

My makeup essentials are

Moisturizer – Hydrates my face keeps makeup from flaking or looking cake-y.

Foundation – evens out my skin complexion, covers up blackheads.

Powder – helps to set my foundation in place.

The hair products I rely on

ORS Olive Oil Shampoo – it moisturizes and neutralizes the hair leaving it tangle free and soft after shampooing.

ORS Olive Oil Conditioner – it helps restore hair moisture, rebuilds damaged hair, stimulates hair roots and works as a deep penetrating conditioner. OOOO and it smells nice!

 On health and fitness…

I work out. I do a 20 – 30 min workout thrice a week.  Since I lost all the baby weight, I mostly do squats and work on tightening my abs.

My beauty icons are …

Am all up for women with brains, beauty and a big heart. Angelina Jolie portrays all that!
