Katy Perry ‘s first ever Vogue US cover is pale and boring

By  |

We kind of love that Katy Perry, the girl who: kissed a girl and liked it, dyed her hair Smurf blue, wore a Manish Arora Circus Carousel Dress, and brought us the frosted cupcake bra, has received the ultimate nod of approval from the ever-discerning Anna Wintour. Anna doesn’t put just anyone on her cover (ask Kim Kardashian)!

However we aren’t loving this cover  to some extent. Lensed by Annie Leibovitz on the July issue,  we cannot deny that she looks absolutely divine. Stripped down from her all her usual confections, Perry still looks striking and romantic in a floral appliquéd dress that pops against her alabaster skin, vermillion lips, and raven hair. As for the cover line: “Her life, her loves, and a fresh, romantic look,” consider us intrigued. Perhaps we’ll get the dish on her doomed-from-the-beginning tryst with John Mayer? The cover still comes off pale and boring!
