Rihanna isn’t your role model, stop whining!

The entire world is still in shock after Rihanna attended CFDA awards in a dress that left nothing to imagine. The singer went on to pick the ‘Fashion Icon’ award. She won this because of her playful and rebellious fashion sense. This should shock everyone but people who haven’t been following her for the past few months.

Rihanna has been on a nude rampage wearing close to nothing in magazine spreads and leaving little to imagine while in Paris during Paris Fashion Week. The star went on take her nudity to Instagram leading to a ban. Her account has since been suspended. Thanks to her rebellious self, she decided to wear what has been named the most SCAN – DA – LOUS dress of all time.

Many people most of whom are parents have been on a cursing rampage calling her all sorts of names. These claim that she’s being a bad role model to their daughters. I wonder when she set out to be anybody’s role model! She might have gained fame as a teenager and has a huge following of young teenage girls but Rihanna shouldn’t be and cannot be the role model you or your children should look up to.

There are many influential Ugandan women who can stand as ‘real’ models to young girls. As if that is not enough, why let your children be brought up by social media. Rihanna is out to have fun with her music, fashion and social media following. Don’t be influenced by what she does.

It’s high time we got better role models and leave people like her to live their lives. It’s her body she’s exposing not yours. You can choose to dress like her if you want. You can also choose not to.

She’s not your role model, stop whining.
