Uganda Waragi, the number one premium Ugandan Gin has been in the market for 50 years. To mark the celebration, Uganda Waragi is now in a new bottle and Uganda Breweries is happy to welcome all Ugandans to the party!

“Uganda Waragi is undoubtedly one of our countries proudest treasures and stands today, 50 years strong being the most respected spirit in Uganda. This does not happen very often for our local brands, and we have therefore chosen to use this celebration to reaffirm the brands stature with a stunning, iconic and world-class new bottle” said Grace Nshemeire-Gwaku, Marketing and Innovations Director at Uganda Breweries.

Gwaku further said that the new look is the culmination of months of research, hard work and collaboration with the world’s best design agencies and a very talented local brand team that worked to create a bottle that will be appreciated by Uganda Waragi consumers new and old and allow for Uganda Waragi to proudly sit on shelf amongst the worlds most celebrated spirits.

“Consumers for a long time have said to us, they love Uganda Waragi, it has been part of their lives for a very long time, and it needs to continue to be relevant now. With so many new spirit brands on the market, it is important that as market leaders, we pioneer into new territories, renovate, innovate and lead from the front. The recently launched Uganda Waragi Flavours (Coconut and Coffee) are another example of this,” she said.

In what is being dubbed the biggest campaign in the history of Uganda Waragi, a yearlong Celebration Campaign has been planned.

“The new campaign is inspired by The Spirit of Uganda and hence will feature the hashtag #SOUG. By celebrating the greatness of our nation’s spirit we hope to encourage Ugandans to release their vibrant spirit for the world to see. With this new iconic bottle we wanted to create a symbol of national pride that embodies the great spirit of Ugandans, with a modern look to carry our spirit into the next 50 Years,” said Rhona Namanya, Brand Manager of Uganda Waragi.

“This new bottle comes at a time when Uganda Waragi has been bestowed with an international Monde Selection Gold Award for the fifth consecutive year. The same premium quality spirit will now come in a bespoke and iconic bottle. The first roll out will be in the main 750ml ‘muzinga’ bottle and the rest of the bottles will follow suit in a few months’ time,” Namanya added.

‘UG’ as it is commonly known is close to the hearts Ugandans. Enjoyed by millions of Ugandans over ice, neat or with lemonade and fresh cut lime (a mix popularly known as ‘The SO UG’) the new campaign will reveal over 50 ways to drink Uganda Waragi and invite Ugandans to try their own cocktail to enjoy with friends in bars or at home with some exciting commemorative merchandise to be won.
