Ugandans gear up for Swahili Fashion Week awards

Swahili Fashion Week which is the biggest fashion event in East Africa will be climaxing tomorrow with an awards ceremony where a number of Ugandan designers and writers are expected to be recognized.

These include our friends Gloria Haguma and Arafat Ndugga of Daily Monitor who were nominated in the category of East African fashion journalist of the year. Martha Jabo and Santa Anzo of Arapapa were nominated in the category of East African Designer of the year. Others include Vivian Mutesi and Sharon Mirembe Ssanya who are up for the model of the year award.

Swahili Fashion Week was founded in 2008 by award-winning fashion designer Mustafa Hassanali and this year’s event is the seventh edition.
