What would youth do? See what Fille, Vampino, Irene Ntale and Michael Ross think should be done.

The 2016 elections are drawing close, with less than a month to the polls, youth under the umbrella body Youth Coalition on Electoral Democracy in Uganda together Twaweza jointly developed a youth manifesto with a call to have to their demands addressed in the manifesto of the next government.

The key issues that need to be addressed include unemployment, health care for all Ugandans, education opportunities for all, sports and creative arts and also youth participation in decision making. The campaign #Whatwouldyouthdo? was curated to push for all presidential aspirants to address these key issues in their manifestos and go on to implement them when they are voted into power.
Five ambassadors, all local singer were unveiled to front the campaign which is already going viral on social media. Each ambassador was championing one key issue. Fille, Vampino, Irene Ntale, Santana and Michael Ross, have taken to their social media accounts to voice their thoughts.

“Education is not preparation for youth; education is life itself. Thanks to the government, a lot of children who couldn’t to go to school now can. But, we need to put these great policies to work.” – Irene Ntale
“As a youth manifesto ambassador, I join all the youth to appeal to government to increase availability of quality and affordable health care services for young people and lay a realistic foundation for building a more stable, prosperous and hopeful future for Uganda and its young people. #Whatwouldyouthdo?” – Michael Ross

“I appeal to youth to vote for a candidate that best speaks to their needs, like accessible medical services. Imagine if our health care centers were like those abroad. We would be having no problems with premature child birth and better skilled mid wives to the give the services hence give birth to cute babies like above. Vote wisely and let’s have a peaceful election.” – Vampino
